Classic and Timeless Newborn & Family Portraiture

Writer's picture: Pamela YoolPamela Yool

Newborn photography is one of the most beautiful and timeless forms of photography. It's a priceless treasure that you and your family will cherish for years to come. Allow me to create classic and timeless photographs of your newborn that will stand the test of time. Don't miss out on this opportunity to capture these precious moments and preserve them forever with a professional newborn photography session.

One of the most important elements of newborn photography is safety. Always make sure that your baby is comfortable and secure, and never put them in a dangerous or uncomfortable position. Make sure that your photographer has been trained in newborn safety and uses props that are specifically designed for newborn photography. Many of the newborn portraits are created as a composite - meaning the baby is photographed separately and the backdrop is photoshopped to create an illusion that it was shot as one image. NEVER have your baby suspended in a hammock or leave your baby unattended/ unsupported. There should always be hands on your baby - especially during the "froggy pose" as babies cannot fully support their head. When it comes to posing, less is often more. Simple poses that showcase your baby's natural beauty are often the most effective. Your photographer will also use blankets and wraps to create different textures and add depth to your photographs.

Another important factor to consider when photographing newborns is lighting. Soft, diffused lighting is ideal for creating a warm and cozy atmosphere for your little one. When working in the studio, a large softbox is used to create a beautiful and natural-looking light. The larger the softbox the softer the light. The lighting placement is also crucial as the shadows might be in an unnatural spot or the catchlights might be too low.

Finally, don't forget about the details. Capturing the tiny fingers and toes, the wispy hair, and the perfect little features of your newborn will help you create photographs that are truly timeless and classic. Your photographer will choose multiple angles and compositions for your proofing gallery so you to choose your favourite photos. In summary, newborn photography is a beautiful and timeless art form that requires skill, patience, and attention to detail. By using soft lighting, safe posing techniques, and a focus on the details, you can create stunning photographs that will be treasured for generations to come.
